This sounds like an awesome road trip. I love Boston and Salem. My ex used to live in Salem and I really loved going there to visit him. Unfortunately, October is a crazy month in Salem as tourists flock there for Halloween. My family has a beach house there and I spend a week there every summer. One word of advice ... the further away from Boston you go, the prettier it is.
