2011: The Music

Music has been very important for me this year - I discovered a ton of new (or at least "new to me"), awesome music!

Here's the playlist I put together showcasing all of my favorites from 2011! (A few of these songs are duplicates from the playlist I put together a few weeks ago...)

1. Ho Hey - The Lumineers
This song was on a recent episode of Hart of Dixie (I know, it's a silly show) and I instantly fell in love. I also like a lot of their other music!

2. Fletcher - Blitzen Trapper
This one was also on my last music-related blog. I have to check out more of their music.

3. No Light No Light - Florence & The Machine
There's a line in this song that kind of represents my year. It's kind of a sad song, but still seems optimistic to me for some reason!

4. Shake It Out - Florence & The Machine
My favorite song off of their new album.

5. Rumour Has It/Someone Like You - Glee Cast
The best song that Glee has ever put out!

6. Rumour Has It - Adele
Listening to the mash up from Glee always makes me want to listen to the original!

7. Someone Like You - Adele
Ditto #8.

8. One and Only - Adele
This was the first song I bought off of the new Adele album. It's so great!

9. I'll Be Waiting - Adele
"Now the sky has cleared and it's blue, and I see my future in you..." LOVE this one!

10. Queen of California - John Mayer
It's no secret that I love John Mayer, so I was super stoked when I discovered a bunch of new songs I hadn't heard before that are rumored to be on his next album. Queen of California is my favorite so far.

11. The Air That I Breathe - Maroon 5
This was a bonus track on their last album, and I like it more than any of the other songs on the album!

12. The General - Dispatch
So it's not a new song by any means, but we didn't own it until this year. Sean bought it, but I like it a lot!

13. Solitude - Louis Armstrong & Duke Ellington
This is such a sad song. But it's so beautiful - and the instruments remind me of my grandfather for some reason. Plus, I used to play clarinet, so the clarinet in the song rock my world.

14. Jolene - Jeremy Fisher
I heard another one of Jeremy Fisher's songs, Scar That Never Heals, on Rookie Blue. Jolene has quickly become another favorite of his.

15. Cosmic Love - Florence & The Machine
This one was on Nikita earlier this year, and I love it so much! (But my GOD their videos are so fucking weird!)

16. Impatient Girl - Kate Voegele
Her music is kind of hit or miss for me. This is one off her new album that I quite like.

17. Southern Girl - Amos Lee
Also not sure where this one came from, but Amos Lee is cool and I love this song.

18. Going Out On You - The British Columbians
I think I found The British Columbians from watching Rookie Blue, of all things. I like a few of their songs, but this one is my favorite.

19. Cigarettes - The Wreckers
The Wreckers are really fun. I like their whole new album, which is weird cause it's pretty country and historically that hasn't been my thing until fairly recently!

20. Let Me Down Easy - Billy Currington
Also featured in my last music-related post!

I love discovering new music and can't wait to see what 2012 introduces! I think one of my 2012 resolutions will be to see some of these bands live...
