Productive.

As I hinted at yesterday, last weekend was quite the productive weekend for me.

In addition to the gardening, I:

- bought a water filter for our shower, which will hopefully fix my super dry skin, scalp and hair.

- got another yellow jacket trap, and some better gardening tools.

- helped Sean chop up and stack the wood from the eucalyptus tree. We still have to chop it some more before we can use it for firewood, but we got a great start.

- hung out with my neighbors and some of Sean's cool friends, had breakfast with one of my best gals, Marie, and then bbq'd with a bunch of other great friends.

- saw The Proposal - so cute!

- watched fireworks

- took naps on all three days of my three day weekend.

- ate way too much food.

I totally missed having a nap yesterday, and I'm feeling it this morning.

Michael Jackson's funeral is today and I'm dreading my drive into work - I drive right by Staples Center every day, and I have an ominous feeling that it's going to take me 5 times as long as it normally does. Here's hoping there's some level of respect and class for that whole situation - though I don't know how classy a memorial service at freakin' Staples Center could be.

I'll admit it - I'm a bit over hearing about his death. I liked some of his music, sure, and recognize that he had major influence on the music world and much of my generation. But enough is enough!

Tell me - are you over the Michael Jackson death stuff, or are you curious about every detail?

I was over Michael Jackson's death 5 minutes after I first heard about it.

I really want to see the Proposal!

Also, while I feel bad not being more into it, I'm really tired of hearing about MJ's death. Many people die and very few get the recognition they deserve. I understand that he was a great artist, but come on...

I'm so over all the MJ stuff. He had no peace while living and now none while dead. It has turned into a frenzied circus. Give the guy a break. Mostly, I just feel bad for his kids. These people mobbing the streets didn't even know him personally. I think it is a sad testament to our culture that we'd become so obsessed over a celebrity.

I'm over the circus of his death, for sure, but there is a small part of me that feels bad that he wasn't able to make his comeback. He was such an influential artist and I feel like that really gets lost in all the drama that surrounds the guy. I'm not saying he was a saint (also not saying he was or was not a pervert) but I do believe that he deserves a bit of respect. At least for the sake of his kids.

I am so over hearing about his death and what will happen to the family, his money, whatever. I am so stunned that it's been almost 2 weeks and it's still the top news story EVERYDAY. ARen't there more important things going on in the world than the death of MJ?

He was a great musician, but enough is enough already. Give the man some peace!

OVER it! I was watching CNN while on the treadmill the other day and the literally could not go more than 5 minutes without reporting some kind of "breaking story" about MJ. Well let ME break something to YOU, CNN: the guy's dead so I don't think he's doing much "breaking" anymore. And this from our "reputable news source."

I must admit, I've been more affected by his death than I ever thought I would be. I guess it's because a large part of my childhood is just gone. I saw on Amazon that the most downloaded MP3 of late is "Man in the Mirror," which I find very telling. Maybe something good will come out of this. Maybe the press will stop hounding people--but only if the public back off a little. What a price to pay for talent.

On a much lighter note, I LOVED "The Proposal." LOVED!

Thanks for keeping me updated about life in one of my favorite spots on Earth--enjoy Topanga :-)
