Trips I'm Planning: East Coast Road Trip!

The final wedding of the four I have to go to this year will be in Virginia, so my friend Kellie and I have decided to make a big trip of it! The wedding is in October, and we decided it would be loads of fun to fly into Boston about a week before the wedding, and then work our way down.

On the itinerary are: Boston for three nights, Connecticut for a night, Philadelphia for a night, and then ending in Fredericksburg where Ash lives for four nights. We're slowly adding in things we want to hit along the way, like Cape Cod and Salem from Boston, and Samford and Scranton from The Office (Yes. We are THAT dorky.) Kellie has a friend who went to college with us who now lives in Philly, but I would also love to see some of the historical sites that I saw but did not take in on the standard 8th grade trip to Washington DC.

We already bought our flights, and fortunately we're flying direct both ways. Into BOS, out of IAD. Our flight leaves on a Thursday, arriving early Friday morning in Boston. We figured we'd stay in Boston till Monday morning, then make our way down to Connecticut, trying to do coastal stuff, and hitting up Providence, RI. Spend Tuesday driving from Connecticut to Philadelphia, taking in sites and maybe some Amish things. Drive to Fredericksburg on Wednesday night, to hang out, see the sites, and be around for the last of the prep for Ash's wedding. Oh, and meet her fiance! We'll have to fit DC in there somewhere... like I said, I don't remember a whole lot from when I was there in 8th grade. I mostly just remember who I had a crush on (Anthony), Ryan licking a kitten in Amish country, and Erik yelling "Woah Nellie" when someone fell on him on the bus.

I have lots of ideas, and I'll be posting about them I figure out more about what we want to do! Any suggestions from East Coasters out there??

Cape Cod = AWESOME! My family has a beach house there and I spend a week there every summer. One word of advice ... the further away from Boston you go, the prettier it is. If you can manage to spend some time in Provincetown (at the very end), I'll tell you now - it's worth your time!

Wow. This sounds like an awesome road trip. I love Boston and Salem. My ex used to live in Salem and I really loved going there to visit him. Unfortunately, October is a crazy month in Salem as tourists flock there for Halloween. Still, a very beautiful city.

Aw, crap, I didn't even think about the whole Salem/Halloween thing. We're going early in the month, so hopefully it won't be SO bad? Maybe we'll go when we get in on Friday so that we're not overwhelmed. I hate tourists.
