Babies, weddings and "bros," oh my!
I'm in an amazingly fantastic mood today, due in large part to the great weekend we had, and also in part to the actual good night sleep I got last night! We had a fun filled, and somehow still relaxing weekend, and it was lots of good times.
I took a half day from work on Friday and picked up my good friend Megan from the airport - she flew in from Portland hoping for a break in the gloomy weather and rain, and instead got an overcast, chilly day. We made it better by getting coffee (which was definitely a reoccuring theme this weekend) and going to visit her 4 day old niece, Madison.
I love babies. I love the way they smell. I love the way they wriggle. I love they way they sleep through loud noises, talking, and dogs barking, then wake up at random times of the night. And I love the way they turn their parents into mush balls. Megan's brother is this big huge guy - 6'4" and built like a football coach's dream defensive end. And he holds his daughter so carefully, unafraid to show that she is the start and end of his world. It's awesome.
After managing to rip ourselves away from Megan's new favorite person in the universe, we gathered the troops for a chill night at a "British" (and I use the word loosely) pub in the Valley called The White Harte. Had a great time, and there were lots of "bros" there that Megan could take photos of to prove to her boyfriend that Southern California is, in fact, filled to the brim with toolish guys.
Saturday was errand day - Mother's Day and b-day gifts for mom, new cute-sundress-matching shoes for Megan, and a few other things of the like. Shosh and Marie came over and we had a flashback to the days when we'd all come to my house to get ready for high school dances and college parties.
Then we were off to the wedding! With the exception of a little un-necessary drama, the wedding had all of the lovely elements a good wedding should have: the extraordinarily happy couple of a glowing bride and a beaming groom, a short ceremony, tasty eats, upbeat dancing, and a monumentally delicious cake. I'll post a couple photos from the wedding (they had a flippin hilariously perfect cake topper) soon. Good times were had by all, and everything worked out how it should.
Sunday was nice - hung out with mom and had some extended family over for a BBQ. My mom loved her gifts, making braving the throngs of people at the mall on Saturday completely worth it. I also managed to fit in doing 5 loads of laundry, cleaning our room, and watching Dragnet (super goofy, don't really recommend) all before Sean got home from work. We grabbed some coffee and finished watching Michael Clayton and then hit the sack early.
That's all for now, folks... I'm off to finish part of a project and then try to escape a bit early to go drool over Megan's niece some more.
